A Review on French Cinéma Du Réel in Cinema Verite

The 11th Iran International Film Festival "Cinema Verite" will review selected films from the French Cinéma Du Réel Film Festival. In Reviewing a Film Festival of this year, five selected films from French Cinéma Du Réel Festival will be screened, including On Call (Alice Diop / France), Long Story Short (Natalie Bookchin / USA), The Dreamed Ones (Ruth Beckermann / Austria), Mama Colonel (Dieudo Hamadi / France - Congo), and Thorough the Looking Glass (Yi Cui / China)
Cinéma Du Réel is one of the most prestigious documentary film festivals in the world, founded in 1978 by the French Public Information Library (BPI), and by the support of National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS).
One of the founders of this festival is Jean Rouch, French documentary filmmaker and anthropologist, head of the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), director of the Paris Cinematheque, the founder of cinema verite wave in the world documentary cinema and the director of some prominent documentaries such as Hunting the Lion with Bow and Arrow, The Mad Masters, In the Land of Black Mages, Enigma and I a Negro. The second founder of the festival s Jean-Michel Arnold, general secretary of the Paris Cinematheque, vice President of UNESCO’s IFTC and the Director of CNRS Image/Media.
The Cinéma Du Réel Film Festival features more than 200 documentaries each year in various sections, at the Georges Pompidou Cultural Center and several other cinema theaters in Paris, while organizing workshops and perspectives to highlight the best documentaries of the year and the history of documentary cinema.
Among the sections and awards of the Cinéma Du Réel Film Festival is the 8,000 euros Prize for the International Competition, Short Film Award, Youth Award, the 6,000 euros Libraries Award by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication, Joris Ivens / CNAP Award, Intangible Heritage Award, Institut Français - Louis Marcorelles Award, Pierre and Yolande Perrault Grant prize for a young filmmaker and the Original Music award.
Cinéma Du Réel Film Festival launched the ParisDOC in 2014, an opportunity for many French and international professionals to exchange ideas and produce new projects. This platform includes access to video libraries, public discussions, meetings with filmmakers and more.
The 40th Festival will be held from March 23 to April 1st, 2018 in Paris.
