The Director of the Most Prestigious South African Film Festival Is Now Among the Cinema Verite Jury Members

Darryl Els, the director of the Encounters Film Festival, which is South Africa's most prestigious festival, is now a jury member of 11th Iran International Film Festival, Cinema Verite.

Darryl Els was born in 1978 in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. After graduating from Witwatersrand University, he started producing documentaries.
In 2010, the creative director founded the Bioscope Independent Cinema in Johannesburg, which is an independent space for the introduction and promotion of south African and international documentary and short films. In addition, he has worked as an independent researcher, with a special interest on the history of South African cinema and presented his studies in various institutes and film festivals.
This year, Darryl Els was the jury member of Swiss films in Visions Du Reel Film Festival, which was held in April in Switzerland.
The Encounters Film Festival, hosted by Darryl Els, is one of the oldest and most prestigious film festivals in Africa, and its goal is developing its audiences and encourage education in the creative documentary filmmaking, creating investment opportunities for filmmakers throughout the continent, and promoting documentaries as a tool for social exchange through dialogue and debate to create a democratic atmosphere.
The 20th Encounters Film Festival will be held from May 31 to June 10, 2018 in Cape Town and Johannesburg, South Africa
